About the opportunity

This exciting role will see you lead a team responsible for the coordination of accreditation assessments and related policy issues, to ensure medical schools continue to meet accreditation standards. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly managing one to three staff member and resources, and indirectly managing other staff.
  • Maintaining and tracking a complex visits work program.
  • Providing and implementing advice on strategic issues, risk management, policy considerations and logistics related to assessment visits.
  • Communicating with medical schools and other Accreditation teams on matters related to visits.
  • Engaging with medical schools to support understanding of procedures and how new programs or changes to programs are assessed by the AMC.
  • Supporting the Medical School Accreditation Committee to ensure that it has appropriate information to make decisions on AMC accreditation and assessment activities in line with procedures.
  • Organising and implementing training for expert teams and medical schools.
  • Attending and acting as executive officer on visits.
  • Writing, editing and overseeing expert reviews of visit reports.
  • Answering complex questions from stakeholders about policy issues, particularly related to the medical school standards, including cultural safety questions with a commitment to personal development in this area.
  • Representing the AMC at key stakeholder engagements and conferences.
  • Tracking and advising on a complex work program.
  • Tracking, keeping internal stakeholders abreast of, and taking steps to deal with policy developments and risks related to medical schools.
  • Organising and participating in projects, evaluations and quality improvement activities, and workshops.
  • Taking responsibility for and collaborating on other matters related to strategic and policy issues as required.

About you

You possess demonstrated people management experience, as well as:

  • Experience with managing a work portfolio.
  • Experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders in relation to strategic matters and complex enquiries.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise team workload in a busy environment including demonstrated time management and organisational skills, and effectively managing competing priorities to deliver high-quality outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear, accurate and effective interpersonal and written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to prepare well-structured reports and professional correspondence, and to ensure professional interactions that build rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and apply standards, operating policies and guidelines, and identify continuous improvement opportunities of these.

Desirable: experience working in health profession accreditation and/or regulation, higher education qualification in a relevant discipline, and experience in policy development, evaluation and/or quality improvement.

Salary and benefits

A salary of $130,000 - $150,000 per annum, including 11% super (plus leave loading) is available, depending on skills and experience.
