Amber is a new way to buy power, designed for a world powered by renewable energy. We give customers direct access to the real-time wholesale electricity price as it varies every 30 mins and the technology to shift more of their energy usage to the times when cheaper renewables are available in the grid. It’s a cheaper way to buy power and the fastest way for Australia to reach 100% renewable energy.

You’d be a part of a rapidly growing team of over 50 with expertise across energy, technology, marketing, and operations.
As Amber’s digital copywriter, you’ll be working in a growing team, focusing on connecting customers with the magic of Amber and helping to grow our customer base to over 100,000 - a key part of our mission to take Australia to 100% renewable energy.
In an energy market awash with greenwashing and tainted by mistrust, you’ll play a key role in helping customers and prospects understand why and how we do things differently and the bigger impact they can make as an Amber customer.
You’ll do this by working closely with our Head of Brand & Creative, our Content Manager and our Digital Designer as you develop compelling, sharp and engaging short form copy that elevates our content creation, differentiates Amber in the market and drives customer loyalty. Whether it’s an eye-catching headline for a new ad, or a witty intro for a customer email, our brand copy is often the first touchpoint and a fundamental part of the Amber experience.
Write compelling copy across Amber's user touch points and formats, with particular focus on short-form copy for ads, social media, website and email.
Translate complex energy industry concepts and regulations into accessible, user-friendly copy and content
Learn constantly and improve the effectiveness of your work with A/B tests and user studies
Shepherd our tone of voice guidelines and alongside the Content Manager act as one of the guardians of the brand voice
Implement your copy in channels directly where possible, like email, to support launch speed
Work with the Content Manager on the content creation and publishing calendar, owning copy output for your channels (paid ads, organic social media, website, email)
Understand our customers with deep empathy and tailor comms to various segments
Collaborate across marketing, product, ops, and legal on their copy requirements
Advise internally on campaigns, creative, and content, and collaborate with external agencies
Measure and report on key metrics for copywriting, with the support of the Content Manager and data analyst
You know how to produce exceptional copy that engages, excites, educates, and ultimately, drives action
You’re a natural storyteller with the ability to explain complex messages in simple, human ways
You understand our current tone of voice, but see room for improvement. You’re keen to shepherd our brand voice like it was your own, ensuring it is consistent and cuts through across every single touchpoint
You are detail oriented, organised, and you like working in a dynamic and highly-collaborative environment. You may have worked in a start-up before, or come from a fast-paced agency, but either way, you’re used to having a few different briefs on the go and knowing how to produce your best work for all of them
You have a growth mindset and are open to feedback. You get excited by the idea of testing and learning to see the impact your copy is having and whether it can get better and better
You’re interested in spending time getting to know the energy industry, what makes our customers tick and the intricacies of our model
You are interested in Amber and our mission to shift Australia to 100% renewable energy. It’s a big mission, and we need a super passionate team to make it happen!
Minimum 3 years copywriting experience, ideally in short-form tactical ad copy. Start up experience viewed favourably.

This is a full time role based in Melbourne. Due to Covid, we mostly work from home, with a few days a week catching up in a coworking space in the CBD when possible. We expect to remain Melbourne based but maintain flexibility between the office and WFH.
