ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement is a new role at Amaze. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the position will lead a small team, focusing on achieving the business’ strategic objectives and ensuring Amaze is fully engaged and connected to all our partners.

The Head of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement is a member of the Amaze Leadership Group which, together with the Executive Team, is responsible for delivering KPIs against Amaze’s Annual Business Plan and whole-of-organisation projects.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The Head of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement is a practical role, which will include leadership and management responsibilities alongside active engagement in day-to-day activities of the team. With a passion for developing a deep understanding of Amaze’s stakeholder network, this position will lead a diverse team of skilled individuals to the next evolution of Amaze’s strategic communications and stakeholder engagement activities.

Focusing on digital communications, key responsibilities include:

  • Development and implementation of the Amaze Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Plan in support of the Amaze Strategic Plan 2022-2026.
  • Positioning Amaze as the ‘go to’ organisation for evidence based, independent information about autism for all Amaze stakeholders.
  • Developing and delivering an internal communications framework and supporting systems to improve flow, timeliness, and accessibility of information.
  • Developing a tangible understanding of the critical issues facing the Autistic community and exercise judgments around responses.
  • Building trusting and productive relationships with Autistic people, other autism organisations in Victoria and nationally, and Federal and State Government partners.

THE *IDEAL CANDIDATE (KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE)

To be successful in the role, you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Affairs) and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Around 5+ years in a senior / managerial communication and/or fundraising role in a NFP or government environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing communications support across a range of program areas, often working on several projects simultaneously, within an organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining productive internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • People management skills and experience including the ability to lead an inclusive team that maximises the talents and potential of each person.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship building, and influencing skills with the ability to establish and sustain valued working partnerships across all organisational functions.
  • Autistic community focused with either knowledge of, or commitment to, developing respectful communications with Autistic people and their families and carers.

EXTRA INFORMATION

Please note, as this position requires work from the Victoria Street, Richmond office, it is a requirement that the successful candidate demonstrate triple-vaccination status.
