The extremely well-appointed interior of Garden City Aged Care will operate based on a home-like model with dedicated carers rather than the traditional aged care facility model.

The Role

Alzheimer's Queensland are taking applications for Registered Nurses for our facility to be responsible for providing safe, person-centred and evidence-based practice for the health and well-being of residents. You will work in partnership to enable shared decision making and care delivery between the person, nominated partners, family, friends and health professionals.

The Registered Nurse promotes AQ's organisational values of Social Role Valorisation (SRV) principles and works in accordance with these principles as well as our facilities policies and procedures, in a manner that encourages the independence and engagement of residents.

About You

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse
  • Relevant qualifications in the field of gerontology, dementia or similar would also be an advantage
  • Experience in the provision of residential aged care (specifically people with dementia) as an AHPRA Division 1 Registered Nurse
  • The commitment to work within the AQ new model of care, ensuring quality & effective services are delivered with strong consumer focus & the skills to promote consumer choice
  • Clinical oversight & professional competence as a Registered Nurse providing high standards of clinical care managing wound, incontinence, falls prevention & documentation
  • Solid understanding of mandatory reporting & accreditation requirements under the Single Quality Framework
  • The natural ability to provide positive leadership to care staff as a supportive & advisory role model
  • Empathy & understanding of the needs of the frail, elderly & dementia residents
  • Consultative in case management & clinical decision making of residents with high complex needs
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve & work under pressure
  • Clear National Police Check
  • Covid vaccinated
