It’s a genuinely exciting time for us, and it means we can offer opportunities to do work that makes everyone’s future better.

Your part in it

Reporting to the General Manager for New Markets, the Land Owner Engagement Specialist will be pivotal in advancing our initiatives to lease less productive or non-arable land with Western Australia landowners for the purpose of developing nature-based projects under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit Scheme (ACCU Scheme) methodologies. This position involves working closely with agricultural landowners to identify, fund, and deliver projects that enhance land productivity and contribute to carbon sequestration whilst delivering diversified income streams and farm co-benefits for landholders.

What you’ll get out of it

We’re a welcoming bunch who put our energy into being the best company we can be. For us, this means shared respect, great communication between teams, acting on our ideas, and looking out for each other’s wellbeing. There are plenty of great perks, from flexible working to a long list of exclusive Alinta benefits.

What you’ll put into it

  • Identify and directly engage with farmers and landowners to discuss opportunities for leasing land for environmental planting and other nature-based solution projects.
  • Communicate the benefits and opportunities of partnering with Alinta Energy, including advice on agricultural practices and technologies, discussions on vegetation groups, plant species, shelterbelt and block planting, pest management, weed control, land preparation, water drainage , salinity mitigation, soil health, as well as grazing and cropping techniques to improve farmland.
  • Conduct site visits to assess the suitability of the land for tree planting and other on-farm co-benefits.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, and informational materials to educate farmers and the wider community about the benefits of nature-based solutions and the ACCU scheme and to promote Alinta’s Energy NbS opportunities.
  • Support the NbS team in budgeting for financial analysis, benchmarking and general business development and negotiate lease terms with landowners, ensuring fair lease agreements.

What you’ll bring to it

  • A background in either agriculture, land management, or a related field.
  • Strong business acumen, including financial literacy and negotiation skills.
  • Environmental knowledge and familiarity with native plant species, carbon sequestration, and environmental conservation.
  • Excellent people skills to establish trust with landowners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools.
  • A strong network within the Western Australian Wheatbelt farming community and a willingness to travel within regional Western Australia as needed

Join us in moving towards a sustainable future and increasing our carbon credit initiatives.
