WHO WE ARE

The Australian Indigenous Governance Institute (AIGI) is an Indigenous-led national centre specialising in governance knowledge and excellence. We support the economic, social, and cultural aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by connecting them with world-class governance practice, research, thought leadership and educational resources.

Our headquarters are located at the Brisbane Technology Park in Eight Mile Plains, Queensland, with staff working remotely in various Australian states and territories, and we are proudly governed by an all-Indigenous Board of Directors. Our current strategic plan was launched in 2022 and will complete it's cycle in 2025 with a strong focus on Governance Resources, Governance and Capability Strengthening, Partnerships and Sustainability.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer (Business Development and Operations) to join our team! This newly created role will report to the Director of Business Development, and assist in supporting the strategy execution through key business development, operational, and administrative tasks.

  • Sourcing philanthropy partners and development of pitches
  • Drafting grant applications and completing reports for funding agencies
  • Support the implementation of the communications and marketing plan, including social media and administrative campaign tasks
  • Liaising with partners, associates, consultants and external business support services
  • Attracting and evaluation fee-for-service opportunities
  • Administering human resource tasks, including reviewing and updating our key policies
  • Overseeing AIGI's monitoring and evaluation framework
  • Implementing compliance measures relating to work health safety and staff training
  • Ad hoc tasks as direct by the Director that align with your role and responsibilities

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Selection Criteria)

To be successful in this role, you ideally have:

  • Qualifications or relevant experience to the core capabilities of the role (Business, Operations, Marketing, Project Management)
  • Previous experience working in or supporting marketing, communications, impact measurement, operations, project management and/or human resources is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience working and communicating effectively with Indigenous organisations, communities and individuals in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with proven experience in managing a complex array of stakeholders with sensitivity and diplomacy
  • High-level organisation and time management, including the ability to work in an fast-paced, agile organisation with competing priorities and deadlines
  • An ability to undertake some interstate travel as required

You have strong emotional intelligence and understand the cultural sensitivities and significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' histories and futures in Australia.
