If you are an organised individual, join our team as an Ethics Support Officer and play a vital role in supporting health research that meets the needs of Aboriginal people.

As the Ethics Support Officer, you will work closely with the Human Research Ethics Officer and collaborate closely with the Western Australia Aboriginal Human Ethics Committee (WAAHEC).

Your responsibilities will include providing secretariat support including preparing meeting documentation such as agendas and minutes, coordinating training events, arranging travel, submitting requests for webpage updates, undertaking data entry tasks, and assisting with collecting information for regular reporting.

About You

In addition, to be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Good time management skills with the ability to effectively plan, organise and coordinate own workload.
  • An ability to work within a small but dynamic team, and autonomously as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with clients and external stakeholders, managers and employees at all levels and present a professional image.
  • Good written communication skills including the ability to write clearly and concisely, contribute to reports and manage the output of quality information and data.
  • Well-developed administrative skills, including data entry skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Very good skills in Microsoft Office Software including Word, Outlook and Excel; and
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of employees, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
