The Victorian Greens are looking for experienced and passionate Electorate Organisers/Lead Organisers (depending on experience) to build winning grassroots field campaigns for the 2026 State Election.
There are multiple roles available across multiple electorates. These positions are full-time (4 days per week), fixed-term contracts until 11 December, 2026 (2 weeks after the State Election).
About this role
In this role, you will build a team to support our movement to have meaningful and persuasive conversations within an electorate. You will be implementing four key elements of our election campaign at a local level: volunteer recruitment and activation, voter contact coordination, leadership development, and training.
This isn’t your average job: you’ll often work weekends and evenings instead of weekdays, and you’ll need to be self-motivated and flexible – but you’ll meet amazing Greens members from all walks of life, and make a real difference growing the political party that stands up for what matters. If you enjoy working with people and are passionate about building a progressive future, you’ll love this job.
You will be responsible for:
- Development and/or coordination of our field campaign strategy in a specific electorate.
- Recruiting, activating and training volunteers.
- Leading a team of volunteers to deliver the field campaign strategy.
- Organising and running training and intake events to build up our movement, including the development of training materials where required.
- Managing all regular volunteer recruitment and voter contact activities including doorknocks, phonebanks, debriefs, data entry, stalls, and all other supporting events.
- Regular and clear communications with the rest of the campaign team and other staff.
- Data management and reporting within the electorate.
- If hired as a Lead Organiser, you may be required to manage other staff organisers.
- Other tasks as required by the manager.
Selection criteria
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t have all of the relevant skills. We’re looking for someone organised and thorough and with passion for our movement, which we prioritise over formal education or qualifications.
We’re committed to diversity and supporting the right person to thrive in this role. For a confidential conversation about this role or the recruitment process, please contact the Field Manager, Angie Judd, via email at [email protected] using the subject line: Electorate Organisers / Lead Organisers enquiry via EthicalJobs.
Key selection criteria
- Values alignment: Commitment to the Greens policies, charter and core values - ecological sustainability, grassroots participatory democracy, social justice and peace and non-violence - and a passion for our movement.
- Strong rapport-building and relationship skills: You can quickly build and maintain relationships of trust in a local group and broader community, especially working well with others in a busy and ever-changing environment.
- Strong leadership and persuasive communication skills: You’ll be able to inspire people to understand the possibilities of people-powered change and community organising.
- People management experience: including the ability to build and supervise teams, develop people’s skills and bring out the best in each individual team member. Staff management a bonus
- Outstanding organisational skills: experience in managing people and logistics to tight deadlines, you thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Field campaigning experience: Experience in best practice field campaigning, especially doorknocking and other types of persuasive voter contact
- Experience training others: Demonstrated experience in delivering volunteer training events. Some experience developing training resources, guides and materials would be highly valued.
- Outcomes-driven: Demonstrated experience in solving problems, meeting goals and achieving results under time pressure.
- Judgement: Commitment to discretion, confidentiality and sound political judgement.
Bonus points for
- Lived experience or connections to First Nations justice, racial justice, LGBTQIA+ justice, disability justice or gendered justice movements.
