The primary purpose of this Project Officer is to perform project management and support related activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives.

This role is integral in managing and implementing a range of projects in line with the ADC’s responsibilities, which help to improve ADC service delivery and operations, and contribute to promoting better outcomes for individuals, families, groups and communities across NSW.

About the Agency

The NSW Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC) commenced on 1 July 2019, with the objects of protecting and promoting the rights of older people and adults with disability, and protecting them from abuse, neglect and exploitation in their family, home and community. Its roles include:

  • Raising awareness and educating the public about matters relating to the abuse, neglect and exploitation of older people and adults with disability
  • Responding to allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of older people and adults with disability, including by providing advice, making referrals, conducting investigations, and taking further action as necessary
  • Inquiring into and reporting on systemic issues relating to the protection and promotion of the rights, or the abuse, neglect and exploitation, of older people and adults with disability
  • Administering the Official Community Visitors scheme.

About the Role

This is an ongoing role in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013.

As a Project Officer in ADC, you have a range of responsibilities not limited to but including contributing to the design, implementation and coordination of a range of projects, including training and community engagement and capacity-building projects, which deliver effective outcomes for the ADC and meet client service delivery needs.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry or professional experience in relevant area.
  • A current driver’s licence and a willingness to drive.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Sound ability to balance competing priorities while providing high level support to the Communications Manager.
  • Strong communication writing skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Possess a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
