The Aboriginal Family Legal Services (WA) aims to provide free, culturally secure legal support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault.

We are seeking a Full Time Administration Officer in our office on Gwoonwardu country (Carnarvon) on a fixed term contract. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm and $32.53p/h. Part time applicants will also be considered (school hours).

The successful applicant will work closely with the Solicitor and Community Engagement Worker to ensure there is efficient service delivery, office maintenance and support for all roles in the office.

To be considered for this position you will possess skills and experience to do the following:

  • Answer all phone calls and desk queries in a friendly professional manner
  • Demonstrate excellence in customer services at all times
  • Proactively provide clerical assistance to our AFLS Lawyers
  • Generate office stationery orders (Internal/External Requirements)
  • Be responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Handle Petty Cash (distribution and reconciliation)
  • Confidently assist with walk in clients and general enquiries, including the ability to direct and refer clients to appropriate resources/agencies
  • Provide assistance by printing, collating and binding of handbooks, forms and documents as requested by the Managing Solicitor
  • Database entry
  • Excel and Word reports, as directed

Selection Criteria:

  • 3 years + previous experience in an office environment, preferably in legal services
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Experience of managing client records through digital systems
  • Experience with file and diary management
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks at one given time.
  • Excellent computer and literacy skills (both written and verbal)

Desired Criteria:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Previous experience working with people who have been exposed to family violence.
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office 365 and Sharepoint.

ESSENTIAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Current ‘C’ class WA Driver’s License
  • Current Federal Police Clearance
  • Working with Children’s Check

DESIRABLE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully vaccinated against COVID 19 (including booster)
