Disability Advocacy NSW (DA) is part of Advocacy Law Alliance Inc. We are a not-for-profit service that believe that people with a disability have the right to equality, fairness, and a good quality of life. DA provides high quality social advocacy to support people with a disability across regional NSW.
We are seeking a collaborative leader with experience in social advocacy who can manage and support a dispersed team of disability advocates, as a Regional Coordinator for our Sydney-West region. Reporting to the Manager Advocacy, this role will be responsible for the leadership and management of their regional team, and coordinator of all regional requirements. The role will be located in our Valley Heights office, with periodic travel required to other offices across the region, located in Parramatta and Western NSW (e.g. Broken Hill).
Reports to Manager Advocacy
The role will include (but is not limited to):
Regional Leadership and Management of Regional Advocates
- Manage the day to day delivery of disability advocacy services in multiple regions including Western NSW.
- Supervise and support the Advocates in the Regions.
- Oversee and manage Intake and Assessment for the Regions.
- Coordinate and partake in regional networking, education and information sessions.
Advocacy and Advice
- Maintain a limited individual advocacy caseload.
- Provide case advice to Advocates for complex or ethically difficult cases.
- Provide professional advice on programs (e.g. Decision Support, Disability Royal Commission, NDIS Appeals, NDAP, NSW Advocacy Program).
- Manage systemic advocacy projects under the supervision of the Manager Advocacy.
Quality Assurance
- Work closely with the Manager Advocacy to prepare for third party standards audits.
- Monitor staff compliance to service standards.
- Monitor all feedback, and act as required.

Selection Criteria:
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (for example: law, social sciences, social work etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in managing, supervising and supporting staff
- Demonstrated experience in providing advocacy for disadvantaged groups
- Proven skills in communication, both oral and written, including excellent negotiation skills, time management, organisation and networking
- Knowledge of the NDIS, NDIS Appeals, Disability Royal Commission and other services and resources relevant to people with a disability
- A current driver's licence (or other reasonable form of transport) ability to undertake regular travel to regional area
- Willingness to undertake a police check and working with children check prior to commencement
