ABOUT ACWA

The Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA) is the professional association for qualified community work practitioners. Its purpose, supported by members, is to ensure that community work is widely recognised as a profession, and that practitioners have the requisite qualifications, skills, ethics, and knowledge needed to play a proactive role in bringing about a fair and just society. ACWA’s four key service areas are membership, migration skills assessments, course accreditation and training endorsement. 

The office is based in the Melbourne CBD. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a creative wordsmith with experience in website management, developing social media campaigns and writing engaging content. Do you envisage a fair and just Australia, and would like to work in an organisation that is working to that end? We are currently seeking a highly motivated person to join our management team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing ACWA’s communication outputs that advance our strategic direction. 

In the role you will need: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification 
  • An ability to prioritise work 
  • A successful track record in teamwork 
  • To be a strategic and conceptual thinker.

Position responsibilities

  • Work closely with the management team to identify target audiences and create strategies and content to effectively engage them. 
  • Maintain and improve website content to ensure the site is relevant and dynamic. 
  • Develop content for use in communication materials, including e-news, media releases, and social media platforms. 
  • Develop resource materials and organisational collateral to improve ACWA’s public image

Requirements of the role (Key selection criteria) 

Applicants must be tertiary qualified in either communications, journalism, media, or a related field, and have:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience in social media content and campaign development 
  • Skill in aligning communication with organisational goals 
  • Experience in website management (or willingness to learn) and content development 
  • An understanding of marketing and branding principles
  • A desire to work within a team-based environment oriented to achieving organisational outcomes
  • The ability to problem solve and think strategically
  • Imagination
  • Experience in managing relevant external suppliers e.g. graphic designers, marketing professionals, printers etc.

Desirable

  • Marketing experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer and IT skills across different platforms including but not limited to: Microsoft suite, Adobe suite.
