About the role

As the Community Engagement Officer (Ballarat), you will support community engagement activities and relationships at the Ballarat campus. You will support administrative functions for local community engagement opportunities, nurture existing relationships with community to ensure the timely and effective delivery of a range of community engagement and mission related projects.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Monitoring, coordinating and ensuring that community engagement projects progress as planned in terms of tasks and deadlines in accordance with ACU community engagement policies and protocols.
  • Assisting the Senior Community Engagement Officers with screening potential community engagement partners, administering orientation, planning, briefing and debriefing sessions to ACU staff, students and alumni who have registered to volunteer in community engagement programs.
  • Providing support to the team of community engagement officers in relation to event planning and implementation, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, managing email enquiries and preparing communication material.
  • In conjunction with Senior Community Engagement Officer (Melbourne), nurturing external community engagement relationships at the Ballarat campus.

You will need to have:

  • A minimum completion of an associate diploma and at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of a post-trades certificate or advanced certificate and extensive relevant experience as a technician; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • High level planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a number of events/projects at one time, achieve required outcomes and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, to work independently, and to interact proactively, productively and constructively in a team environment.
  • High level of written communication skills, including preparation and editing of draft documentation, with careful attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders such as students, academic and professional staff, external organisations, and community groups.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or competence in community engagement or other community-based activities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams and an aptitude to learn and operate placement (InPlace) software.

What we offer:

  • Total remuneration valued to $88,664 - $96,079 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $74,922 - $81,188 (pro rata) pa (HEW 5), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff (we provide choice of fund in accordance with relevant legislation, with the University’s nominated default superannuation provider as UniSuper).
  • Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks’ salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
