  • Full time role, 12 months fixed term, working with the peak body for the Australian union movement, providing broad support to the delivery of delegate training and development across the union movement and the customisation of educational content relevant to union delegates.

The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) is the peak union body representing almost 2 million workers and their families.

Since our creation in 1927, the ACTU has spearheaded some of the most fundamental workplace struggles in Australia’s history.

The ACTU’s role as a peak body is to encourage workers to join their union, be a national voice for our movement, and advance and defend workers’ rights by co-ordinating union campaigns, representing workers at a range of government and non-government forums and to provide industrial, policy and other support to our affiliates.

THE ROLE

The Delegate Organisers will be integral members of the Education and Capacity Building team, supporting the broader delegate education program. They will work directly with unions to customise and make educational content relevant to their union delegates. These organisers will collaborate closely with unions and TLCs.

Key responsibilities

  • Work directly with unions to tailor educational content to meet the specific needs of their delegates and development plans.
  • Develop and provide materials, including template email journeys and tools for workplace delegates, in collaboration with unions.
  • Collaborate with TLCs to support their delegate engagement and collaboration approaches, ensuring alignment with broader union goals.
  • Organise and turnout online delegate meetings and other development related activities.
  • Work with unions and educators to deliver a comprehensive delegate education and development program.
  • Assist in executing digital strategies, ensuring effective online engagement and communication with delegates.
  • Work with unions on digital strategies to enhance workplace engagement efforts.
  • Share local approaches and best practices as part of a network, promoting innovation and effective strategies across the union community.

Benefits

The ACTU will offer the successful candidate a salary in the range of $110,481 to 129,067 dependant on skills and experience, along with an additional 15% superannuation, annual leave loading, working from home opportunities and generous leave arrangements (including up to 5 additional days of annual leave).
