The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) represents nearly 1.7 million workers and their families. The ACTU’s role as a peak body is to encourage workers to join their union, be a national voice for our movement, and advance and defend workers' rights through coordinated campaigns, representation, and support to our affiliates.

The Role

As the Digital Communications Manager, you will lead a team responsible for delivering impactful digital and social media strategies that support ACTU campaigns and union movement growth. Reporting to the Campaigns Director, you will:

  • Develop and implement innovative digital and social media strategies aligned with ACTU’s objectives.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing digital communications team.
  • Oversee digital campaign execution, performance measurement, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, affiliates, and stakeholders to amplify campaign impact.
  • Provide strategic leadership in digital marketing and advertising.
  • Use data insights to optimise communication strategies and audience engagement.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, including team leadership.
  • Experience working with unions or community organisations.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment and discretion in politically sensitive environments.
  • Commitment to union values, social justice, and cultural diversity.

Desirable:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.

The ACTU offers a competitive salary range of $138,522 – $157,436, depending on skills and experience, along with:
