The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) is the peak body of unions representing nearly 1.8 million workers and their families.

We are after an excellent Lead Organiser that can ensure the ACTU’s Contact Centre represents best practice across the union movement when it comes to recruiting and retaining members.

In this role you will lead a high performing team, having high quality organising conversations, and helping to test new ways of organising - all to grow the number of workers joining unions via the ACTU.

You will also work closely with our affiliated unions to help them provide the best call centre services to retain and grow membership. This could involve running all aspects of outbound call campaign for them with our team or collaborating and innovating with them to build contact centre capacity.

Key Selection Criteria (Essential)

• High-level organising ability and experience within the trade union movement
• Demonstrated ability to develop and run successful union growth plans.
• Demonstrated ability to develop materials, work plans and accountability systems for implementation of campaigns.
• Proven ability to build and manage a high performing team.
• Demonstrated ability to and run all aspects of a call campaign including recruitment, training & mentoring staff, rostering, preparing growth and financial reports, scripts and briefings and to meet and exceed agreed targets.
• Commitment to the values of the union movement and to social and economic justice.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially to a wide range of union members and leaders.
• Ability to juggle competing demands and work to tight deadlines.
• Excellent judgment and discretion within a politically sensitive environment.

Key selection criteria (desirable)

• Knowledge of inbound and outbound contact centre processes and technology.
• Critical and creative thinking when it comes to organising practice and innovation.
• Comfortable with using technology to help deliver on organising plans.
• Good ability to map a complex work processes and improve upon them.
