Andrew Braddock MLA, Jo Clay MLA, Laura Nuttall MLA and Rebecca Vassarotti MLA are seeking an Executive Officer to work on behalf of the ACT Greens in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
Duties
This role will assist MLAs and the ACT Greens Chief of Staff to coordinate and manage strategic, administrative, and parliamentary duties across the MLA offices.
Core responsibilities of the Executive Officer include:
- Providing high level secretariat support to ACT Greens MLAs Party Room.
- Leading organisational development work to build and sustain a healthy workplace culture.
- Promoting a culture of learning and reflection and identify opportunities for team and individual development.
- Coordinating and managing a range of parliamentary and office processes with limited supervision.
- Liaising with Members of the Legislative Assembly, Ministers and their staff and other stakeholders as required.
- Overseeing the office management function to ensure compassionate, helpful and timely responses to constituents – enabling MLA offices to be effective community advocates.
- Assisting the ACT Greens Chief of Staff to review policy briefs and other materials.
- Apply a demonstrated commitment, or willingness, to implement ACT Greens principles and policies around ecological sustainability, social justice, peace and non-violence and grassroots participatory democracy.
- Other duties as directed.
Selection criteria
- Strong coordination, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sound written, oral and research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including managing up and across an organisation, and demonstrated consultation and negotiation skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, including flexibility and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a small team in a dynamic work environment and work independently as required.
The role will be to the end of the Assembly term in October 2028 and is set at Adviser Level 2 depending on experience, plus superannuation.
The successful candidate will be engaged under a Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff contract, and other terms and conditions of employment are governed by the ACT Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026. It is not an ACT Public Service position.
