We are seeking a Full Time Team Leader (Domestic and Family Violence Focus) to join our caring, compassionate and friendly team in Morayfield until 1 July 2026 with possibility for extension.
This position is responsible for the practice and performance oversight of the Moreton Safe Families Program. This role will provide line management to two Child and Family Practitioners (DFV) and therapeutic case coordination and intervention responses for a small case load of high-risk DFV cases. This includes working with all family members including protective parents, those perpetrating abuse, and impacted children and young people.
Extension of employment contract beyond this date is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.
Act for Kids is a prominent provider of prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. With over 25 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for more than 30 years. In 2021 - 2022 we provided services to 39,002 people, including over 23,000 children.

About the program:
The Safe Families program is an innovative 3-year pilot working with families presenting with Domestic and Family Violence. The model will use an evidence-informed Common Elements approach to work with the underlying issues and impacts of Domestic and Family Violence and will include outreach and centre-based work with protective and offending parents as well as children and young people through an ecological empowerment and accountability approach.
The approach is highly influenced by the Safe and Together Model however aims to pilot and evaluate different modes of creating safety, change and recovery for all family members impacted by, as well as those responsible for, the violence.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Lead a high performing team of two Child and Family Practitioners (DFV).
- Lead the professional practice of the Safe Families team.
- Manage a small caseload by engaging families, obtaining consent, and developing safety and support plans in collaboration with the family with a focus on domestic and family violence concerns.
- Provide education and skills development/behaviour change strategies to all family members including protective parents, those perpetrating abuse, and impacted children and young people.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals and stakeholders to ensure families goals in relation to safety, skills-building, and recovery are achieved.
- Ensure team members maintain report records and data in accordance with organisational expectations and assist the Program Coordinator to ensure funding agreement and client number targets are being met.
About you
- A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
- Professional registration (if required).
- Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
- Safe and Together Training (desired).
- At least 5 years’ working in a domestic and family violence capacity with a case management focus.
- Relevant experience supervising staff in similar role.
- Demonstrated nuanced and intersectional understanding of the drivers, dynamics and impacts of domestic and family violence and the dynamics of gender, power, and control.
- Experience working with victims/survivors of domestic and violence through a trauma-informed approach
- Ability and interest to work respectfully with perpetrators of violence to create safety and change.
- Highly developed communication, problem solving and teamwork skills.
- Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively work families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
About the pay
- Position is classified Level 6 under the SCHADS award.
- Salary range is $102,555 - $107,080 plus superannuation.

- Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
- Current driver’s licence.
