About the job...

We are seeking a Part-time or Full-time Psychologist to join our caring, compassionate and friendly Specialist Disability Support in Schools service (SDSS) team until 31 December 2024 with possibility for extension. The successful applicant can choose to take the position as either Full-Time or Part-Time. This position is based in North Coast/North Brisbane schools.

Extension of employment contract beyond this date is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.

This role operates under the North Coast Specialist Disability Support in Schools (SDSS) program, a team that is part of Therapy and Education Services. The Psychologist works closely with school communities to enhance access, participation, and achievement for students through evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention and consultations with schools and key stakeholders to achieve key educational outcomes for students.

Providing outstanding therapeutic service to students, school personnel and care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a client caseload as negotiated with the Program Coordinator SDSS program.
  • Identify and work toward client goals and achieve successful case outcomes for clients.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings for the benefit of clients and develop case plans.

About you...

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (psychology).
  • Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA.
  • At least two years experience working with children, young people and their families or at least two years experience working in similar roles.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy to children, young people and their families.
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child and family functioning.
  • Knowledge of current trauma treatment trends and child protection legislation and policy reforms.
  • High level of cultural awareness and experience working with families from different backgrounds, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

About the pay...

  • Position is classified Level 6 under the SCHCADS award.
  • Salary range is $96,970 - $101,251 plus superannuation (pro-rata for part-time).

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.
