About the job...

We are seeking a dedicated Child and Family Practitioner to join our inclusive and compassionate and friendly team based in Toowoomba. This position is full-time, fixed-term until 31 December 2024. Extension of employment contract beyond this date is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.

This position works collaboratively with the Pathways for Early Learning & Development (PELD) team to ensure parenting strategies and child behaviour support is in line with appropriate child development and parenting capacity. PELD is underpinned by the Abecedarian Approach Australia (3a) and supports children 0-5 in early learning development, improving educational outcomes through delivery of supported playgroups and home visiting.

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake training required to become a 3a Practitioner.
  • Support delivery of 3a playgroups and deliver 3a supported home visits.
  • Regularly attend and participate in case collaborations and stakeholder meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with other practitioners in supporting the family to achieve their goals around parent child interaction and 3a strategies.
  • Complete standardised assessments.
  • Support families to link with and attend generic community based early childhood and education services, including providing transport.
  • Contribute to term planning, program development and intentional planning sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, data entry and administrative tasks.

About you...

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
  • Professional registration (if required).
  • Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
  • At least 2 years experience providing intervention and support services to families, caregivers, young people and children.
  • An understanding of early childhood development, impacts of trauma, and support required for children with additional needs and engaging them in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in planning, implementing and reflecting on individual and group programs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with families and carers within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent IT skills in electronic database entry of case management information and using standard Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Outlook or similar.

Other requirements

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.
  • Fully vaccinated with the prescribed doses of an approved vaccine against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.

About the pay...

  • Position is classified Level 4 under the SCHCADS award.
  • Salary range is $74,180 - $79,811 plus 10% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time).
  • In addition, as a registered Not for Profit/Charity, we offer excellent salary packaging options through RemServ which can significantly increase your take home pay.
