The Assistant Director position supports the development, implementation and management of vocational pathway programs. The position is responsible for the delivery and management of Vocational Learning Programs (VLP) for ACT public schools, Australian School-based Apprenticeships (ASbAs) in Government Initiative, Work Experience Program (WEX) and industry pathways.
The position is also responsible for the growth of ASbAs more broadly in ACT schools, through a continuous improvement lens and managing relevant stakeholders.
You will be required to maintain and communicate the organisation’s strategy for the provision and promotion of vocational pathways, ensuring that the business processes and information required to support the implementation of high-quality VET delivery in ACT public schools are accurate and up to date.
You will support engagement with senior leaders, school career staff and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure their complex needs are understood, prioritised and incorporated into Directorate plans with progress communicated throughout the project delivery process.
Our ideal candidate takes ownership of issues and will demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to understand business requirements and work collaboratively to develop effective solutions that can be applied universally. This will include working collaboratively across business units and directorates to develop documentation and run workshops.
The role requires highly developed written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including business and industry. Ideally you will have proven ability to establish and manage projects within tight timeframes, build relationships, communicate effectively and influence stakeholders.

This is a temporary position available from February 2025 until January 2027 with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
