About the role

The Behaviour Support Practitioner will be responsible for providing positive behaviour interventions for clients recently released from immigration detention.

The Behaviour Support Practitioner will be expected to assess the function of a participant’s behaviour/s of concern or offending behaviour, develop model of care plans/ behaviour support plans to address clients’ needs/risks and deliver therapeutic interventions.

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum tertiary qualification in an area relevant to behaviour change (Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology)
  • 2+ years prior experience in the behaviour support sector.
  • Ability to work with challenging presentations and complex issues, preferably in the forensic or mental health fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessment and behaviour support planning.
  • Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic interventions to support client behaviour change.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to provide sound clinical advice.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team under the direction of a leader.
  • Effectively manage caseloads, manage time and competing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities (CALD)
  • Experience working with clients in contact with or at risk of contact with the criminal justice system.
