For over 60 years, the Australian Conservation Foundation has been Australia’s most respected voice for nature and climate. We are the national environment organisation committed to protecting our unique and beautiful wildlife and natural world.
ACF is inclusive, non-partisan, and proudly funded by the Australian community. Whether it’s advocating for the Great Barrier Reef, koalas snoozing in big old trees, or strong climate action, our dedicated community of more than half a million people are working to create a world where forests, rivers, people, and wildlife thrive.
In January 2026, ACF welcomed Adam Bandt as our new CEO - a dynamic and visionary leader stepping in at a time when nature and climate need us most. With deep experience and a fearless commitment to change, Adam’s energy and leadership will guide ACF into its next powerful chapter.
This is a thrilling time to join ACF as we build on a proud 60-year history and leap into the future with bold leadership, renewed momentum, and a passionate community behind us.
As Public Relations Lead, you'll help elevate ACF's public profile and strengthen our ability to influence the national conversation on nature and climate. Working within ACF's Communications team, you'll develop and deliver strategic public relations and thought leadership initiatives that amplify our campaigns, people and mission.
You'll build and nurture relationships with influential voices, ambassadors, trusted messengers, content creators and partner organisations, helping extend the reach and impact of ACF's work. From securing thought leadership opportunities for key spokespeople to identifying innovative ways to engage new audiences and amplify campaign messages through strategic partnerships, you'll play a central role in growing ACF's visibility and influence.
This role combines strategy, storytelling and relationship-building. You'll uncover and create compelling opportunities to showcase ACF's expertise, develop high-impact communications content across multiple channels and help ensure our campaigns connect with the audiences who can drive meaningful change for nature and climate.
You're a strategic communicator with experience in public relations, journalism, media, communications or marketing. You know how to craft compelling stories that cut through, build influence and inspire people to act.
Strong relationship-building and storytelling skills allow you to engage a diverse range of people, from colleagues and campaigners to influential voices and external partners. You can translate complex issues into clear, engaging communications and know how to tailor content and conversations to different audiences and channels.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of initiative, judgement and attention to detail. Collaborative, self-motivated and purpose-driven, you're excited about using your skills to help grow ACF's influence and build support for nature and climate action.
Finally, you love nature and are excited to bring your skills and experience to support the incredible work ACF is doing to protect and regenerate it.
You’ll do important work with one of Australia’s most impactful organisations, and with our world-class organisational culture and great team, we guarantee you’ll have fun along the way.
ACF is proud to offer our staff a supportive workplace with excellent conditions, including:
People are at the heart of everything we do to protect our planet. To achieve the bold change we seek, we must represent the richness of diversity within our communities so that all of us who care about nature can step up and lead.
ACF is committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants. We actively encourage First Nations people, people from CALD backgrounds, LGBTIQA+ people, people with disability and others who have diverse experiences of our world to apply for this opportunity.
