About the College

The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for the training, assessment and continuing professional development of emergency physicians as well as the advancement of professional standards in emergency medicine in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Position

We are currently seeking a Media Advisor to support the delivery of external facing communications across media and events relating to the College’s advocacy and branding. This is a full-time and permanent position based in Melbourne, Australia.

Working closely with the Manager, Media Relations, your contribution will ensure that we are able to deliver on the business plan and strategic media plan to position the College as the leader in emergency medicine education, training, assessment, policy and advocacy.

Much of the Media work at the College, in collaboration with the Policy and Advocacy team, can make a real difference in health system reform and seeks to address systematic challenges within Emergency Medicine whilst influencing healthcare outcomes for vulnerable and diverse populations within Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Paired with a relevant tertiary qualification, our ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated media and/or media relations experience working in news media and with a range of digital and social media channels.
  • Exceptional written communication skills including experience writing for the web, traditional media, and/or academic publications.
  • A proven ability to distil complex technical content into simplistic customer centric language and written pieces.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with a range of stakeholders including doctors, external media and employees to deliver successful outcomes.
