We are offering a unique and fulfilling employment opportunity for a suitability qualified, innovative and motivated person for the part-time position of Accommodation Support Worker based in our Youth Crisis Accommodation, Bunyap House.

In this role:

  • You will be responsible for providing effective communication and relationship building opportunities between young people accommodated in Bunyap House.
  • You will be responsible for providing individual skill development for the young people in aspects of home management; cleaning, cooking, washing, shopping and maintaining a clean-living environment.
  • You will be responsible for providing support to young people with challenging behaviours to understand causes and help the young people problem solve and/or deal effectively with conflict.
  • You will be responsible for providing a safe living environment for the young people accommodated in Bunyap House.
  • You will be responsible for contributing to service evaluation processes, critical reflection and planning for Bunyap House.
  • You will be responsible for contributing to scheduled group and/or individual activities as listed on the Bunyap Activities Calendar.
  • You will be supported in your role through comprehensive training and development specific to our organisation.

Essential requirements

  • Diploma in Youth Work or tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant field of Study.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people in a community services environment and an understanding of trauma informed care.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist in the implementation of case plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in linking young people to community activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in using initiative to achieve outcomes within program guidelines.
  • Understanding of the issues contributing to homelessness for young people.
  • Experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve outcomes for clients with complex needs.
  • Form 395 Clearance from Department of Communities
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Clearance
  • Drivers Licence
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Self-motivated team player who is able to work collaboratively within the fast-changing community services environment.
