The Program Coordinator will support ABV’s Resilient Regions Program in Central Gippsland which is focused on strengthening disaster and economic resilience in Gippsland, Victoria. One of the key program activities is the deployment of ABV’s Skilled Business Professionals (SBPs) to support community organisations in the region. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders and community organisations (Aboriginal corporations, corporates, businesses, groups, industry associations and governmental agencies) to assist in the development and execution of community-led initiatives.

A critical aspect of this role may involve supporting other organizations in the region during a natural disaster as a short-term secondment, to foster collaborative action in disaster-prone areas.

The objectives of this role are to:

  • Deliver the program outcomes.
  • Develop and sustain a sound, collaborative working relationship with ABV’s Program and Engagement teams, the communities and stakeholders relevant to the program.
  • Develop and strengthen community relationships with local/regional networks to support long-term sustainable outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION

Program Delivery:

Assist the Resilient Regions Program Team in planning and executing the program including:

  • Supporting the development of implementation plans, proposals, engagement plans, and resource allocation.
  • Contributing to program monitoring and evaluation activities, including gathering feedback, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Identifying skills and requirements for volunteers, working with the Program Officer to develop clear terms of reference, and supporting the recruitment, selection and onboarding of suitable SBPs.
  • In collaboration with the Resilient Regions team, support the effective engagement of community members and SBPs with each other whilst on assignment to ensure delivery of desired outcomes.
  • Support the delivery of training and workshops and provide feedback as required.
  • Provide coordination of logistics for events, workshops and/or monitoring visits as required, with support as appropriate.
  • Identify emerging needs of community and opportunities to support locally driven priorities in alignment with program goals and the Resilience Framework, in collaboration with the program team.
  • Other duties as requested by the Head, Australian Operations, as appropriate and required.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Facilitate engagement and coordination with community organisations, local councils, and other stakeholders.
  • Scope needs and opportunities of groups and businesses within the identified communities, and, as appropriate, make offers of support aligned to program outcomes
  • Brief community partners, aligning expectations of community partners and volunteers around the support to be provided.
  • Liaise with other relevant stakeholders and providers as required to ensure effective implementation of the program.

Emergency Support and Community Collaboration:

  • Provide support to other community organisations in the region during natural disasters, through a pre-arranged short-term secondment, acting as a liaison to facilitate and strengthen relationships within and between communities, disaster management agencies, and local stakeholders.

Communications and Development:

  • Support communication activities including, case studies, reports, data collection, photos, and other collateral for ABV and partner communications and social media.
  • Assist in preparing monthly/quarterly progress reports and other documentation with the Resilient Regions team
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for quality improvement.

Accountabilities:

  • Act as a key relationship holder for community members and partnerships to support the effective delivery of the program and the strengthening of a sustainable local network within the designated region.
  • Support the effective delivery and day-to-day operations of the program, including SBP and community coordination and engagement.
  • Deliver program activities in the designated areas as per the program implementation plan to the appropriate conclusion, maintaining compliance with all relevant policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure reporting requirements for both ABV and our partners are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the effective and timely monitoring of risks and escalate issues as required to Head, Australia Operations.
  • Maintain an awareness of risk register and escalate issues as required to Head, Australia Operations.
  • Ensure adherence to project plans and timelines under the guidance of the Head, Australia Operations.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in community development, social work, project/program management, business administration, or similar field.
  • Three or more years’ experience in program coordination and /or program management, preferably in community-led initiatives or disaster management.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Competency in online collaboration within a broader organisation team.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team, with flexibility for out-of-hours work and travel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to achieve buy-in from all stakeholders and achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes, troubleshoot, and meet short- and long-term deadlines.
  • Ability to support community organisations with planning for effective community disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

Desired requirements:

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and approaches.
  • Experience in community engagement, mediation, facilitation, diplomacy and/or advocacy or a closely related field.
  • Experience in volunteer management.
  • Experience working with communities in Gippsland, preferably in Central Gippsland region.
