About the Program

Managed by Abt Associates, the Specialist Health Service (SHS) provides strategic input on health to the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The SHS is the primary source from which DFAT accesses health and development expertise and advisory services to improve the quality of health programming across DFAT’s global and regional health portfolio, through enabling access to responsive technical advice and support.

About the Opportunity

The Global Health Division (GHD) in DFAT requires a Knowledge Management and Reporting Adviser to support the implementation of the Partnerships for a Healthy Region (PHR) Initiative PHR is a new 5-year $620 million program through which Australia will renew its efforts to help build resilient equitable, high-quality health programs across the Pacific and Southeast Asia to improve health outcomes and promote regional prosperity and stability.

The Knowledge Management and Reporting Adviser will be responsible for:

Establish and support the use of a practical knowledge management and reporting system for the PHR initiative, including by:

  • Consulting with internal stakeholders to identify their priority information and reporting requirements.
  • Designing a system and protocols that will provide timely, easily understood, and relevant information.
  • Ensuring that the system measures and reports how PHR contributes to greater gender equality, disability and social inclusion, and other cross-cutting priorities as relevant including First Nations engagement, One Health and action on climate change.
  • Ensuring the system serves DFAT’s internal reporting requirements, such as the need for annual Investment Monitoring Reports.
  • Supporting GHD and bilateral programs to access and use key data from the system as required for program reporting and evaluation.

Support and strengthen overall knowledge management practices so that GHD and the PHR initiative meets DFAT knowledge management requirements.

Contribute to the implementation of the MEL Plan of the PHR initiative, including learning events, annual strategic reviews, external reviews and evaluations.

Prepare and contribute to high quality MEL products as part of the program monitoring, evaluation and learning team and support development of fit-for-purpose knowledge products, information, and reporting to OTP/OSA and posts.

Manage and build effective working relationships with partners, GHD, and across DFAT.

Represent GHD in meetings with internal and external partners.

Undertake other duties as required.

About You

We are seeking individuals who will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading knowledge management and/or reporting for a complex program/initiative.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working with systems-level knowledge management and reporting strategies and frameworks.
  • Understanding of a range of knowledge management approaches and the relative benefits and drawbacks.
  • Ability to collate and synthesise and communicate data and information in accessible formats for a range of audiences.
  • A commitment to contribute to an inclusive and supportive professional environment where diversity is celebrated.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • The ability to obtain a baseline security clearance (minimum) or an NV1 security clearance (preferred).
  • Excellent written English, with demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas clearly with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds

Desirable

  • Experience in program management, including design, implementation, and delivery.
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equity, disability, and social inclusion in knowledge management and reporting systems
  • Previous experience working with DFAT.
  • First-hand work experience in Southeast Asia or the Pacific.
