An exciting opportunity has become available to work for Barnardos, one of Australia’s leading children’s charities. A part time (21 hours), permanent Family Support Worker is required for the South Coast Children's Centre based in Warrawong, NSW.
The Role
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Family Support Worker will:
- Manage a case load of families with children aged under 5 years
- Support families with a multitude of issues that are impacting on their parenting and family relationships ranging from but not limited to, domestic violence, mental health and child protection issues
- Record case notes and relevant information using the Barnardos E-SCARF system (training will be provided)
- Develop, implement and review assessment & case plans on a regular basis
- Conduct home visits with families ensuring risk is assessed at all times
- Participate in individual and group supervision
- Support the family Services Team in the presentation of groupwork programs, such as Circle of Security, Black Box parenting and Supported playgroup
- Follow Barnardos Policies & Procedures
The Candidate
The ideal Family Support Worker will have:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working with vulnerable children and their families
- Social Work, Psychology degree or Community Services (extensive experience with a diploma qualification may be considered)
- Demonstrated understanding of the impact of trauma and Child Protection, Substance abuse and Domestic Violence.
- Emphatic, passionate and reliable attitude to work
- Ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders and strong written skills

Salary: (Base & Superannuation)
$71,345 to $77,271 base (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance, current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check
