Offering a broad range of programs and services, Defence Community Organisation provides a telephone helpline to individuals employed by The Australian Defence Force and their families.
The helpline is designed to support Australian Defence Force (ADF) Members, by providing a variety of services including a crisis intervention and risk assessment telephone service. In your role as Helpline Advisor, you will provide support to Member's to access grants and education funding as well as provide support during rotations around the country and overseas. At times the role will present complex and demanding issues, and members may require counselling and/or referral assistance. Therefore experience in crisis intervention and risk assessment is essential. In addition, excellent communication, both written and verbal is crucial for the role. Due to the nature of the work a large amount of administrative work and report writing is required.
You will have a degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling. You will demonstrate your knowledge and experience, along with your report writing skills as part of your application. Previous experience working with mental health or children and families is preferred but not essential.
The helpline is a 24/7 service with 2 rostered shifts (7am-3pm & 2pm-10pm). In addition, an on-call out of hours service is provided.
Must be an Australian Citizen.
