An exciting opportunity has become available to work for Barnardos, one of Australia’s leading children’s charities. Barnardos Australia builds relationships between children, young people, their families and the community. They advocate for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about their issue.

The Role

Barnardos are looking for a part-time Aftercare Archivist for a 2 year fixed term contract based at Barnardos Head Office, Ultimo, Sydney.

The Aftercare Archivist role exists to support adults who have previously been in care with Barnardos, working with the Aftercare Manager, to ensure the adequacy of all aspects of client record keeping and associated client file access procedures. The role is also responsible for the design and establishment of effective systems for the storage, retrieval and dissemination of key historical information and artefacts relating to children in the care of Barnardos Australia over time.

The Candidate

The successful Aftercare Archivist will ideally have:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in areas as outlined above
  • Knowledge of and experience in out-of-home care systems for children, including the impact on children of separation from family, with a focus on record keeping and life story work
  • Demonstrated interest in the support of adults who have been in care as children
  • Experience in records management, archiving, and associated file and artefact related systems
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Ability to deal with highly sensitive records with confidentiality and respect
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in dealing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders from varying backgrounds
  • Sound problem solving skills

Additional Information 

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance, current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check

Salary

$65, 522 - $82, 727 pro rata (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super.
