Youthworx runs an accredited Certificate III in Screen and Media in partnership with Melbourne Polytechnic for young people 16 - 25 years who experience social and/or economic disadvantage or hardship. Our classroom model has a Lead Media Trainer, Youth Workers, a Job Pathways Coordinator & Media Support Trainers who are working together to provide layered support that is designed to create the best possible opportunity for young people to tap into their own inherent creative potential.
- Classification: Part-time 15.2 hrs/week (0.4) Wednesday and Thursday
- Location: 29 Tinning Street, Brunswick, VIC
- Responsible to: Manager - Youthworx Media & Productions
- Key Relationships: Lead Media Trainer, Media Support Trainers, Lead Youth Worker, Pathways Worker, and Youthworx Productions Producers/Mentors.
- Note - Salary packaging and superannuation at 11% as per SCHADS Award
Main Responsibilities
As a Youth Worker, your primary goal is to provide guidance, mentoring, and professional case management to young people participating in our training and employment programs. Role will also involve assisting with intake, enrolment, and pathway planning.
Qualifications
- Tertiary Qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated competence working with young people and their families or carers, preferably with experience in the homelessness or youth sectors (minimum 2 years)
- Understanding of how trauma can affect the development of young people
- Willingness to support young people and team members in reaching their potential
- Experience and/or interest in Media and the ability to leverage it for positive youth development and engagement will be highly beneficial.
Additional Requirements
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence
- Valid Working with Children Check
