Senior Video / Film Producer - Youthworx Productions

Youth Development Australia
  • Location: Brunswick - split with working from home
  • Profession: Senior Video Producer/Project Manager/Account Manager
  • Hours: Negotiable

Here at Youthworx we are losing one of our very loved Senior Producers. A powerhouse producer and an all-round amazing human. But enough about her, it’s not about her, this is hopefully about you! She’ll be leaving behind a very large pair of shoes that we need to fill (metaphorically speaking of course, her foot size is actually tiny).

Based in Brunswick East, Youthworx Productions is a production company-come-agency whilst also being a not for profit social enterprise… I’m not sure how many boxes we just ticked, but we think we tick boxes that no other production company in Melbourne currently does. Which is exciting!

We have not only been serving up inspiring content to brands and organisations for 11+ years, but, we do it all whilst partnering with Youthworx Media, our super cool training program that enables and supports young people who have experienced adversity, to learn about this crazy industry we’re in, whilst also offering them positive industry-based experience.

This is more than a tick the box kinda job, and in return, we offer a unique culture and working environment, with genuine team support, flexibility and room to grow in the role.

So, who are we looking for - someone who basically has the magical qualities of a unicorn, but can pull on some wellies and navigate the seas! Someone who can read a map, and doesn’t get sea sick when the waters are choppy! Someone who has vision and the motivation to help us grow our team into a powerhouse. We’d like you to have had at least 10 years experience in the role of Producer, a good grasp of business development management and client management, and someone who has great leadership skills. If you can direct and pick up a camera every now and then, that’d be a pretty awesome set of skills to bring with you too.

Your role will see you participating in the coordination of all our productions from documentary to corporate films and everything in between, using cinematic video production, animation and digital techniques.

You won’t be doing it alone though, your ship will be filled with first mates who are highly motivated and skilled filmmakers. You’ll be joining a close-knit, team of multi-hat wearing creatives who thrive on telling beautiful stories whilst creating opportunities to give young people currency and a voice, and for the right person we could be that magical place you’ve been looking for that combines filmmaking with a genuine passion for making the society we live in, a better place

All those analogies aside, we’d be relying on you to:

  • Swab the decks (kidding, we do have a cleaner)
  • Hoist the mainsail with our head of digital content (not kidding, it’s the way people will see us and know what we do)
  • Be one of the first points of contact for new projects and enquiries.
  • Manage, mentor and oversee the supporting production team.
  • Schedule and liaise with internal and external crew across pre production, production and post.
  • Bring a savvy/strategic mindset to the table
  • Attend and present at client meetings.
  • Keep on top of budgets.
  • Produce on all levels of projects from script to screen.
  • Come armed with onset experience, decent technical knowledge across all production
  • Conduct interviews (off screen) with talent
  • Contribute to quoting on jobs
  • Perform unexciting general day to day business admin.
  • Brainstorm creative concepts and execution, and create compelling pitches to go out to clients.
  • Have a way with comms and words
  • Play your part in building a positive and fun environment
  • Assist with Business Development.
  • Help celebrate our wins.
  • Help us learn and grow from our mistakes.
  • Make the role your own.

Apart from the winds of creative passion, the Youthworx ship runs on; Trello, Gsuite (Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar), Microsoft Office Suite, Vimeo, Dropbox, as well as the Adobe Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects), and DaVinci Resolve for creative things. So being savvy across these systems and platforms will cast you in a good light, as would a driver’s (or boat) license.

We will negotiate the right number of hours to suit you and us. Salary negotiable based on experience. In an ideal world you’re ready to start before the end of March

If you’ve checked out our Instagram or website you’ll quickly see this is not your usual place of work and this is not a standard role. A big part of the role for us is the applicant’s character fit and attitude, and it’s not something we take lightly.
