Youth Solutions is a youth drug and alcohol prevention and health promotion non-government organisation focused on improving the health, wellbeing and resilience of our young people aged 12-25 years and the community in the Macarthur and Wingecarribee regions of NSW.

Role

Develop, implement and evaluate health promotion projects, with a focus on alcohol and other drug prevention. Key strategies will include: 

  • Delivering health education and community development activities for young people, sector and other stakeholders
  • Coordinating various volunteer programs – may include Student Placement Program, Youth Advisory Group and/or Peer Educators
  • Coordinating the provision of brief advice and referral support to young people and the broader community
  • Coordinating capacity building and partnerships

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in health promotion / public health / health education / community development / related field
  • Ability to pass probity checks (Working with Children and National Police Check)
  • Holding and maintaining a valid driver’s licence and use of a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in:
    • Coordinating, developing and facilitating group education sessions / workshops and presentations
    • Working in and providing leadership to teams
    • Project planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of best practice interventions
    • Coordinating and conducting research projects
    • Producing high quality written communications (including writing reports and content for a variety of audiences)
    • Producing successful grant applications and/or submissions
    • Building and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with a variety of stakeholders
    • Basic budget management
    • Administrative processes, including correspondence, minute taking, record keeping and a high level of computer literacy
  • With a commitment to:
    • The theory and practical application of; health promotion, drug and alcohol prevention and early intervention, community development and youth work
    • Working with young people from diverse backgrounds, including marginalised and at risk groups
    • Understanding of issues that may impact on service delivery in relation to social disadvantage, Aboriginal and CALD communities
    • The changing needs of the organisation and community, use of new technologies and innovative practices
    • Service development through strategic planning and continuous quality improvement initiatives

Desirable criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in alcohol and other drugs
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment
  • Current First Aid Certificate
