Youth Worker - Step-Up2U

South East Flexible Schools Network works with young people who are disengaged from mainstream education with the aim of re-engaging them in creative, meaningful and intentional learning.

Our schools work with young people through a trauma informed approach respectful to the educational needs of each learner.

The Role:

  • We are seeking exceptional individuals to join the STEP-UP2U Project, a pro-social engagement program that connects young people who are involved in the criminal justice system to educational, recreational and youth services in their local government areas.
  • We provide one-on-one support, advocacy and case management, that aims to address anti-social and criminal behaviour drivers. This position will involve intensive support of individual young people allocated including attendance at regular Care Team Meetings, transport to and from various programs they are engaging in, understanding their complex needs and providing strategies to support their wellbeing.
  • This role will commence ASAP on a fixed-term, with a project completion date of 30 April 2024. You will be employed under the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2018.
  • The role is based in Carlton, with frequent outreach and supporting young people in community programs.

You will need:

  • Experience working collaboratively with First Nations People and organisations that support working with Indigenous young people
  • Tertiary Qualification in Youth work, Social work, or criminal justice field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check
  • Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal and Honesty.
