  • Part time (negotiable from 45.6 - 60.8 hours per fortnight)
  • Predominantly based out of Headspace Collingwood requiring someone with established networking skills focused on improving health outcomes for young people with the Northern region.
  • Remuneration SCHCADS 5 level dependent on qualifications and experience + 10.5 % Employer superannuation

About the position

The purpose of the position is to reduce the harms associated with problematic substance use in the community which seeks to engage young people 12-21 in public settings, complete assessments and provide AOD information, brief interventions and health promotion. This position is supported by the direct manager with collegial support from YSAS primary health staff and works closely with YSAS General Practitioners, community General Practitioners and Day Program staff. Thus, integral to this role is a willingness to participate in pro-active engagement with young people in the community to promote their access to health services. This may involve some afterhours work.

Some of the key responsibilities will be:

  • Complete Assessments on young people with complex clinical presentations, Provision of clinical services to young people with complex problems related to their use of alcohol and drugs.
  • Enhanced networking skills with a vision of creating linkages which support best outcomes for young people's primary, physical and mental health needs.
  • Implement a range of modalities including but not limited to: intensive individual casework, group work, family work, out postings, community-based outreach, collaboration and care planning.
  • Provide written quarterly reports regarding the progress of key objectives identified.
  • Provide a range of Alcohol and other drug interventions with a harm reduction lens and also with a focus on the young person's primary health needs.
  • Facilitate a range of responses that meet the young persons assessed needs, such as accommodation, health, food and safety, education, employment and social activities.
