About the position

Community Engagement & Youth Participation Officer role is integral in supporting access and engagement of young people to the services and programs offered at headspace and partner agencies. This role is based at headspace Rosebud, and provides in-centre and outreach support to young people and their families/carers seeking information, resources and help. This role is responsible for coordinating community engagement activities, health promoting and awareness raising communications via our headspace Rosebud website and social media channels; facilitation of either our Youth Advisory Committee or the establishment of a new Family & Friends Advisory Committee in collaboration with headspace Frankston CE&YP Officer.

The Community Engagement role serves as a linkage point with local young people, groups, agencies and schools. Activities include health promotion, mental health literacy, fundraising, promotion of help seeking behaviours and the organisation and promotion of events such as Mental Health Week and headspace Day. This role will facilitate activities that provide awareness and engagement with headspace Work & Study for young people in the Southern Mornington Peninsula Region in consultation with local key stakeholders.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  1. Coordination of locally focused engagement, awareness and education sessions based on local population priorities, presenting or emerging needs of young people.
  2. Promotion of headspace digital services, online resources and campaigns
  3. Maintenance of centre website, social media, and waiting room digital communication and promotions
  4. Develop and maintain relationships with local agencies, services and schools
  5. Facilitate brief intervention and peer supported small group programs to young people
  6. Hold the headspace Work and Study portfolio for the Rosebud site, maintaining access to up to date information, resources and pathways to supports
