This is an exciting full-time opportunity to work with clients accessing the Next Step coaching service which is part of the stepped care approach to mental health being established in the ACT.

Work as part of a collaborative team to establish an innovative early intervention program.

Full training and support in the program will be provided.

Next Step is a program that provides a free and confidential support service to help people tackle day to day pressures. The specially trained Next Step Coaches support people in setting practical goals that will help get them back on track.

The opportunity

Woden Community Service is looking for someone to work within the Next Step program, supporting clients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Specifically, the role will be responsible for:

  • Conducting client screening assessments
  • Supporting clients through specific evidence-based therapy (CBT)
  • Linking clients with appropriate community networks and referring to other support services

About you

We are especially seeking applications from people who are not currently practising health professionals. We encourage applicants to apply who:

  • Have previous experience within the mental health, social, community or welfare sectors.
  • Are self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively and effectively as part of a team.
  • Have strong personal integrity, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with regard to computer skills.
  • Are enthusiastic about attaining new skills through local and interstate training.
  • Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People card.

Initial in-depth training will be provided to the successful candidates and ongoing weekly clinical supervision will also be provided.
