Roses in the Ocean exists to save lives and reduce emotional distress and pain.

They do this by innovating and transforming suicide prevention and driving and delivering system reform through the expertise of people with lived experience of suicide. They support organisations and government to engage and integrate lived experience expertise effectively and meaningfully.

Everyone who works within Roses in the Ocean has a lived experience of suicide which is defined as ‘having experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, cared for someone through suicidal crisis, or been bereaved by suicide.’

This position is based in the Head Office in Brisbane and reports directly to the CEO and the GM.

About the Role

The Office Administration role actively contributes to the successful delivery of Roses in the Ocean Strategic Plan through day-to-day administrative management and support to the senior leaders (GM, Finance Manager and CEO) as well as the broader team.

While no two days will be the same, some of the key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Office administration
  • Proactive and professional administration and support to the CEO and GM
  • Accounts payable support to Finance Manager

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Relevant experience in a role supporting a CEO, or GM with an interest in NFP or community services organisations.
  • Experience coordinating general office administration functions.
  • Experience in managing competing priorities, complex tasks and coordinating activities across numerous business functions and team members.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate and liaise effectively and sensitively at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality and professional standards of behaviour in difficult and sensitive circumstances.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to maintain work output during times of pressure and tight deadlines.
  • A team player, with strong commitment to support and contribute to team effectiveness.
  • Tech-savvy with a broad understanding of how to effectively navigate digital applications such as emails, calendars, video and phone conferencing.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Some experience in bookkeeping tasks such as accounts receivable/payable, preparation of financial reports, bank and credit card reconciliations using Xero would be an advantage
