About the role

This role is for 16 hours per week with work times being Tuesday and Friday 8.15am-5pm. There may be additional days available pending operational requirements.

The Level 2 Dentist is responsible for providing general dental services within their Scope of Practice and credentialing for eligible clients and to ensure that the standard of care is maintained at the highest level in accordance with cohealth policy and procedures and relevant legislation and standards; they have a demonstrated understanding of dental health principles and working within a team.

The Dentist Level 2 will provide guidance to staff in the clinic and will undertake, or participate in, a range of projects relating to the delivery of public dental services

Your daily duties will vary but will include:

  • Ensure the delivery of best practice; high quality and client focussed dental services within a public dental health environment;
  • Actively participate as a member of the wider dental team including dental practitioner students, oral health therapists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, dental prosthetists and dental assistants;
  • Provide basic clinical support and mentoring to other dentists and to dental and oral Health Therapists in their clinical role;
  • Ensure the dental surgery and clinic is maintained to a high-level standard - consistent with quality, efficiency, effectiveness and safe dental practice;
  • Undertake and comply with infection control standards and procedures (including waste and sharps disposal) in the dental surgery and clinic in accordance with cohealth policy and guidelines of Dental health Services Victoria (DHSV) and the Dental Board of Australia;
  • Ensure a high level of equipment maintenance and advise when replacements are necessary;

  • Relevant qualification in Dentistry
  • APHRA Registration
  • Ability to obtain an WWCC
  • Demonstrated high-level clinical competence in all general dentists' tasks
  • A commitment to quality, client focussed care
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to dental public health
  • All Healthcare workers in Victoria are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19and will need to provide evidence before commending employment with cohealth.
