Campaign Organiser - Moggill

This role will mobilise resources and volunteer capacity for the Greens’ campaign for Moggill in the lead up to the State Election. This position will work closely with Greens Candidate for Moggill, Lawson McCane.

The initial contract is offered for 4 weeks at 2 days per week. Working days may increase on achieving agreed fundraising targets. Work days will be flexible, and to be agreed with the Candidate.

Role Description

  • Maintain the campaign To Do List, Schedule and Budget.
  • Organise and manage campaign activities such as phone bank sessions, doorknocks, and large-scale volunteer-led letterboxing projects.
  • Work closely with the candidate to achieve voter contact targets, and run events, social activities and training sessions.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with volunteers.
  • Create and implement training processes for volunteers, including running online events, group training sessions, and one on one upskilling sessions.
  • Jointly with the LECC, oversee election day, pre poll, yard sign, enrol to vote efforts which would primarily be executed by volunteers.

The initial contract is offered for 4 weeks at 2 days per week. Preferred start date is before the end of June, to be negotiaited. Working days may increase on achieving agreed fundraising targets. Work days will be flexible, and to be agreed with the Candidate.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  1. Demonstrated political judgement, with a particular emphasis on Queensland politics.
  2. Highly developed skills recruiting and managing volunteers, including experience running voter contact actions during election campaigns.
  3. Excellence in people management skills including the ability to recruit, manage and train new and experienced volunteers.
  4. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and liaise with a diverse range of people.
  5. Outstanding organisational skills, including demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  6. Proven word processing skills, general computing skills (e.g. email and Outlook, internet, spreadsheets, Google documents, or other databases etc.) and digital housekeeping skills (e.g. computer file structures, data archiving and deletion) at an advanced level.
  7. Knowledge of Greens systems and processes is not essential but will be highly regarded.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Must have demonstrated political judgement and experience working in a similar setting (either a political office, election campaign or other community organising/campaigning role).
  • Experience working for social and political change in any setting, including community-based and unpaid roles will be considered.
  • Experience running door knocking events, or other relevant voter contact would be very helpful.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative team.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE (Please mention in your application)

  • Open license and access to your own car.
  • Knowledge of Greens systems to manage volunteers and voter contact.
  • Knowledge of Greens policies and procedures.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Campaign Organiser role reports to the Candidate, with oversight from the LECC and Queensland Greens State Director.

Work plans will be set by the Candidate.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

The Campaign Organiser will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing volunteers.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Working hours:

Full time hours are 76 hours per fortnight. Part-time staff are paid their rostered hours only.

Some work outside business hours (7.00 am to 6.00 pm) or on weekends may be required. Time off in lieu for those hours will be granted where reasonable.

Use of motor vehicles:

Community Campaigners are not required to use their private motor vehicles in the course of their duties and the Queensland Greens does not compel staff to use their private motor vehicles. It may be agreed between the Candidate, the State Director and the Campaign Organiser that it is necessary or convenient for the Campaign Organiser to use their private motor vehicles for some work business.

Length of employment:

The position is funded for 4 weeks at 2 days per week (0.4 FTE). Preferred start date June 22nd or soon thereafter, to be negotiated.

Conditions of employment:

Employment conditions for Community Campaigners staff are determined by the Clerks – Private Sector Award 2010. A copy of this award can be accessed at www.fwc.gov.au.
Queensland Greens support level 1 is set out in the Pay Scales as set by Management Committee. All classifications are indexed at 3% each financial year.
