About this opportunity

The Lived Experience StandBy Lead Worker is responsible for assisting the StandBy Regional Coordinator in the coordination of the StandBy suicide postvention services across the StandBy site of the ACT & Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network region. This position involves coordinating service delivery to individuals, families and communities bereaved and/or impacted by suicide, community development and engagement, education, training, and as required, the provision of individual support to those impacted and bereaved by suicide.

Key Operational Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the StandBy Regional Coordinator, as required, in the coordination of the StandBy suicide postvention services across the StandBy site of the ACT & Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network region
  • Undertaking community engagement and education, following asset-based community development principles, across the entire region
  • Facilitating a range of community engagement and education activities and workshops across the region
  • Upskilling and training external services and agencies in suicide bereavement service provision, to build the capacity of the sector to provide appropriate support to those bereaved and/or impacted by suicide
  • Supporting the StandBy Regional Coordinator, as required, to respond to the StandBy 24/7 mobile during business hours (diverted to the SB After-Hours Service outside business hours)

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following

  • Lived experience of suicide bereavement and/or impact
  • An understanding of, and experience in, suicide postvention service provision and associated issues, bereavement and/or related disciplines such as trauma, grief, and loss
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is desirable (however preferred applicant will be supported to obtain upon recruitment)
  • A current valid Driver's License
  • Satisfactory Police Check (no older than 12 months)
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People check (ACT) and Working With Children's Check (NSW)
  • Evidence of working rights within Australia such as a passport, birth certificate or VISA
  • NDIS Orientation Module
  • Evidence of full COVID vaccination including booster, or a valid medical exemption
