Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) eagerly welcomes applications for the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), a newly established position reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

WWDA serves as the national Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) and National Women’s Alliance (NWA), advocating for the rights of women, girls, feminine-identifying, and non-binary people with disabilities across Australia. Representing over 2 million women and girls with disabilities, WWDA operates at both national and international levels. The COO will be instrumental in advancing WWDA’s mission, driving operational excellence and upholding the WWDA values.

As COO, you will lead both strategic and operational endeavours, collaborating closely with the CEO and senior management to steer daily operations. This role offers the opportunity to cultivate a culture of high performance, intersectional feminism and inclusivity within our organisation. Based remotely in accordance with WWDA’s Working from Home Policy, the COO will oversee strategic leadership, financial management, and stakeholder engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Drive strategic direction and day-to-day operations to achieve WWDA’s objectives.
  • Enhance WWDA’s reputation as a leader in gender and disability rights.
  • Manage and coordinate stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure alignment of programs and initiatives with WWDA’s human-rights based framework.
  • Collaborate with networks to amplify WWDA’s impact on a national scale.
  • Manage WWDA resources to foster sustainable growth.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cultivate an inclusive work environment.
  • Optimise daily operations for efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Maintain quality controls and manage compliance and risks.
  • Analyse financial reports and assess operational strategies.
  • Develop strategies to achieve WWDA benchmarks and goals.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive process improvement initiatives.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Required Experience and Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or extensive experience in business administration within a community-based, not-for-profit organisation.

Desirable: Preference for a woman with disability to fill the position.

Other Requirements: The successful candidate will be required to obtain a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable Persons/Children check and a national police check. Additionally, they may undergo a Job Access assessment (Employee Assistance Fund) in line with WWDA’s Working from Home Policy and OHS obligations.

Remuneration: Salary commensurate with relevant experience and aligned with the budget for this position.
