About the opportunity

The Pathways to Resilience Program is delivered in partnership between Uniting, EACH and the Australian Childhood Foundation, offering an integrated, comprehensive suite of therapeutic family violence services to victim/survivors and their children (where applicable) across the Southern Melbourne area. The program focuses on addressing impacts of family violence to ensure victims/survivors, young people and children are safe, can heal from their experiences and develop resilience into the future.

As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will provide intake and risk assessment support to victim/survivors and their children who are referred to the program. The role will undertake specialised trauma assessments and review the therapeutic needs of consumers to address the trauma associated with family violence and its impact. The Therapeutic Specialist will also work collaboratively with the partnership to deliver therapeutic group programs and provide linkages to appropriate support services and resources.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent as per the mandatory minimum qualification requirements for specialist family violence practitioners.

You will also have:

  • Extensive experience within the family violence and/or child protection sectors, working with children and/or adults experiencing complex trauma
  • Well-developed risk assessment and risk management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant theoretical approaches and frameworks including the MARAM framework and trauma-informed practice
  • A person-centred approach with the ability to tailor your work to meet the unique needs of children, young people and victims/survivors
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with other services, agencies and professionals to achieve optimal consumer outcomes
