ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Drive the growth of WIRES’ major gifts program
  • Make a difference to WIRES' work to rescue and rehabilitate vulnerable wildlife
  • Suit someone with 3 years experience in Fundraising or 1 year in Major Donor

The Philanthropy Executive role will report to WIRES Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager and work closely with them to grow WIRES Major Gifts program.

This key role will identify and build relationships with new prospective major donors through calls and meetings, proposals, grant applications, events and campaigns. You will provide exceptional service to current WIRES Major Donors and Trusts and Foundations, and deliver initiatives to nurture positive long-term relationships, increase engagement and fundraising income.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a qualified pipeline of major gift prospects by identifying and researching donors, through analysis of WIRES' donor and external research.
  • Nurture relationships with prospective donors through the stages of identification, research, planning, engagement, asking/closing a gift and ongoing stewarding.
  • Build and executive a program to grow and maintain long term philanthropic partnerships, through personal solicitations, communications, events and grant applications.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify and prioritise areas of funding need and create a suite of information for compelling proposals and marketing collateral and grant applications
  • Organise, manage and attend a calendar of donor stewardship events
  • Produce timely reports and acquittals to steward and thank donors,
  • Work closely with the Data and Insights Analyst to brief data requirements, supporter segmentation and report on program performance
  • Assist key stakeholders with donor meetings and events e.g. CEO and program Staff
  • Work with the grants and program teams to contribute to high value grant applications

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to build strong relationships with donors, a strong track record of achieving or exceeding targets and an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills as demonstrated by successful presentations or proposals being accepted by an external partner, grant body or major donor.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and relate appropriately with senior and philanthropic individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • An interest in developing and growing your skills in Major Gift management, and experience with relationship based fundraising programs.
  • Demonstrated experience “making the ask”
  • Highly organised, reliable and proactive
  • Demonstrated passion for fundraising and a commitment to winning new philanthropic support and increasing fundraising income
  • Accountable and results driven
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and expertise in Excel, Canva, Powerpoint
  • Committed to prompt, high quality customer service
  • Understanding of the importance of data integrity and accuracy
