We are currently seeking applicants for the newly created role of Concierge & Volunteer Coordinator at the Victorian Pride Centre. This is a unique opportunity to work with a passionate group of volunteers, build our existing volunteer program, and ensure an excellent level of service for all visitors to the centre.

The Concierge & Volunteer Coordinator will lead the Pride Centre’s day-to-day public facing customer service and management of the volunteer recruitment, induction, training, supervision, administration, and culture.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated experience in complex customer service environments, and a commitment to fostering a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive home for LGBTIQ+ communities.

Professional Qualities Required

  • Demonstrated previous experience in a customer service and/or volunteer coordinator role or significant previous community sector experience in a comparable role
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer facing role that includes dealing and managing complex situations and individuals.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of volunteering and the value and contribution of volunteers
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of the principles of inclusive practice
  • Capacity to develop training, induction and information packages for volunteers
  • Experience supervising, leading and motivating staff or volunteers
  • Demonstrated capability to coordinate projects, motivate and work successfully with volunteers, staff, and other people with varied interests and backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking volunteer (or similar) engagement activities, including communications and recognition programs.
  • Strong ICT skills and an ability to learn new programs and platforms
  • Strong understanding of diverse identities within the LGBTIQ+ community

Desirable

  • Experience with volunteer management software (Volgistics, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience and or training in de-escalation, trauma informed practice, First Aid and emergency procedures.
  • Qualifications in volunteer coordination, social or community services (or a related discipline)
  • An understanding of the complexities of the LGBTIQ+ sector and current/contemporary issues faced by LGBTIQ+ communities.
