Are you a lawyer with a passion for investigations and working with integrity? If so, this is the job for you.
A rewarding opportunity exists for a Senior Solicitor (VPSG 5) within the Legal Services team at the Victorian Inspectorate (VI). The VI is the lead oversight body in Victoria’s integrity system, providing oversight of the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) and other integrity, accountability and investigatory bodies and their officers. The VI also plays a key role in Victoria’s public interest disclosure scheme.
The position requires demonstrated experience in supporting or conducting investigations in an administrative, regulatory or law enforcement setting, including gathering and analysing evidence, identifying risks and providing authoritative, clear and timely advice on complex and sensitive matters, such as the exercise of coercive powers. In addition to the ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you also need a degree in Law and admission to practice (or eligibility to be admitted to practice) as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
Reporting to the Manager, Legal Services, the Senior Solicitor provides authoritative legal advice and services, including supporting investigations, undertaking comprehensive legal research and providing advice on operational matters and policy to executive management to support the VI’s oversight of the Victorian integrity system.
The position is fixed term to 30 June 2023. While some working from home can be accommodated, the role does require regular attendance in the office to access secure and sensitive material.
