HEW 9 $114,102 - $118,713 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contribution. This is a full time (36.75 hours per week) fixed term appointment for one year.
The Mitchell Institute for Education and Health Policy is an independent education and health policy think tank established at Victoria University. Since its establishment, the Institute has been committed to addressing educational disadvantage and has played an important role in influencing government and public policy through evidence-based research and initiating public debate on important issues.
As part of a small team, you will manage and undertake research and policy projects looking at all aspects of Australian education, from early childhood, through to schools, and higher education. You will have substantial input into shaping projects and the work program, and your work will create new evidence-based solutions for some of Australia’s most pressing educational challenges. By presenting your work in the media and engaging with senior policy makers, you will have a critical role in influencing changes in policy and framing the public conversation about important educational issues.
You will play a leading role in translating research findings for general and government audiences under the guidance of the Director. You will have significant responsibility for raising awareness of Mitchell projects as well as influencing key decision makers to adopt relevant research findings.
We are looking for individuals with exceptional policy skills. You will be known for your excellent conceptual and analytical capability; a strong ability to synthesise and present information and ideas in clear and concise ways; outstanding communication, networking and relationship building skills and enjoy working in a small team. You will ideally have experience in education and training policy and/or research and must have a passion for, and commitment to, the concept of equity and educational opportunities for all learners.
