  • Remuneration: $115,00 - $134,000 pa, plus vehicle, plus 12% superannuation, plus excellent leave entitlements.

Primary purpose of position

To excel in this role, you should have a strong passion for occupational health and safety, learning and development, excellent instructional design skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and engage with VAU members at all levels. Your creativity, attention to detail, and organisational abilities will be critical in delivering impactful training initiatives.

Also, one of the primary purposes of this role is to organise and recruit HSRs in the Victorian ambulance industry and provide assistance and advice to Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and VAU members in the workplace.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver WorkSafe Provider Developed Training to HSRs.
  • Recruit and organise HSRs in the public and private sectors of the Victorian ambulance industry.
  • Assist and advise VAU HSRs with reporting and resolving safety issues.
  • Assist and advise VAU members of the processes of reporting a safety issue in their workplace.
  • Direct structured learning experiences and monitor their quality results.
  • Conducting risk assessments.
  • Provide advice and assistance to VAU members as required with WorkCover and return to work matters.
  • Deliver other union training sessions for VAU members, delegates and officials.
  • Ensuring that the OH&S training meets the requirements to maintain the relevant WorkSafe provider approval.
  • Other possible courses may come up from time to time.

Experience & Qualifications

Required:

  • Certificate IV in training and education or equivalent.
  • Have relevant and demonstrated experience in delivering training in an adult learning environment.
  • Previous experience as a OH&S trainer and/or WorkSafe inspector.
  • At least 5 years experience as a HSR including the issuing of a Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN).
  • A demonstrated understanding of gender inequality and experience in delivering training on gender equality, gendered violence and family violence.
  • Previous experience and sound knowledge of Return to Work processes.
