About the Position

The Enquiries & Review Liaison reports to the Assistant Manager, Enquiries & Review. It is responsible for handling enquiries received by consumers and lawyers, and receiving and assessing complaints made about lawyers, referring them internally within the Division or to other teams within the organisation. It has regular contact with internal and external stakeholders including other managers and Division staff, members of the public, complainants, lawyers, law firms and professional associations

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake advanced case management to assess and resolve second tier consumer and lawyer enquiries and complaint referrals received by Enquiries & Review Officers
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of new complaints, accurately assessing the issues and the possible application of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Vic), obtaining necessary information to develop options to resolve or resolve issues as appropriate
  • Provide guidance and provide specialist concepts and policies to lawyers and law practices on routine matters including registrations, practising certificates, and statutory deposit accounts, based on VLSBC's policies, procedures, guidelines and relevant legislation
  • Prepare reports, recommendations and associated correspondence on complex issues, and maintain appropriate records
  • Enter Tribunal decisions on the RODA as directed by the Manager

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in law will be highly regarded but not essential
