About the role:

Disaster Legal Help is a collaborative service which responds to legal needs arising from disasters. In this role you will coordinate and assist with the improvement of the service by building a sustainable future strategy and service model. Key responsibilities will include engaging with stakeholders and establishing trusted relationships, managing volunteer registers and allocation activities, intake systems, induction and training of volunteers and information sharing protocols.

You will also play a leading role in improving the consistency and quality of intake, triage and referral in response to disasters by working with peers in partner agencies and seeking assistance from staff in service design, intake and referral policy and enhancing Disaster Legal Help community legal information and education within the community.

About you:

You will have a strong history of project management with experience in designing, implementing and evaluating projects and initiatives. You will be a skilled communicator with the ability to influence and engage colleagues and stakeholders to bring about positive change.

It is crucial that you can quickly understand and maintain up to date knowledge of legal assistance sector intake, triage and referrals policies, practices and services and have a strong commitment to social justice with an understanding of the factors that cause disadvantage and affect people’s capacity to access assistance.

You will also hold a tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience in a related field and have a genuine commitment to the vision and values of VLA and Disaster Legal Help Victoria.
